Handler Rules and Regulations
1. ACW will only accept original characters. No canon wrestlers, regardless of their level of fame or notoriety, will be allowed. This does not mean that you can not model your wrestler after an existing one, if you choose, though originality is favored. However, using the same catchphrases and the exact same look is discouraged.
2.Stay true to your character at all times. If your character is a heel he/she isn't about to save a puppy from being run over or do a charity event without being forced to by
the owner. If your character is a face he/she isn't going to blindside someone without provocation and he/she isn't going to go for your valets, wives,
bodyguards, etc.
3. Extension of the first and second rules: ACW is a quality over quantity eFed,
and as such your wins and losses are based on your performance on the RP boards
through the week. If you break the above rules in your role plays, you will be penalized for it. The only exception is if you are in the middle of a
face or heel turn. Breaking any character quirks will not lose you points in your judging, but it does look bad to the judges who have known your character awhile. So remember
to always stay true to character.
4. Handler bashing, i.e. talking down about another member of ACW for any
reason, will not be tolerated. There is no call to bash someone in IMs,
RPs or on the OOC boards. Joking and playing around are one thing and
camaraderie is encouraged, but out-and-out handler bashing will not be tolerated
and in extreme cases it will result in the perpetrator's removal from ACW.
5. Do NOT use another handler's character or a member of ACW personnel without
the express permission of the administrators or the handler of the character you wish to use.
6. Do not complain if/when you lose a match. If you wish to know how your match was judged you will be shown the points awarded to you and your opponent in each category, but NOT who judged your match. The
judged categories are as follows, with descriptions of what they mean:
Creativity
How interesting is what they have to say? What about their surroundings
and what they are doing? Or are they doing the same thing over and over,
saying the same things with not much difference to their word choice?
These are some of the factors considered with Creativity.
Length
This does not completely hinge on how long or short an RP is unless it is
extremely long (several single-spaced pages) or extremely short (three or less
paragraphs). It also takes into consideration how well the RP uses its
length. Does it flow well? Does the amount of material stay
interesting all the way through or does it become dry? Is the length
sufficient for the RPer to make their case? These are some of the factors
considered with Length.
Description
How effective is the word choice describing the actions of the person?
Does it give the reader a mental image of what they're doing clearly enough?
Does what they say get the point across effectively or does it tend to confuse
or drone on? These are some of the factors considered with Description.
Point/Counterpoint
Does the person make good points against their opponent and for themselves?
Do they effectively counter the points of their opponents own RPs and put them
on the defensive with their own points? Do they ignore the arguments of
their opponents? Do they use words, actions or both to make and/or counter
points? These are some of the factors considered with Point/Counterpoint.
Entertainment
Is the RP fun to read? Does the RP invoke a reaction from the reader?
Do their actions and words flow well and keep the reader's interest? Does
the RP stand out? These are some of the factors considered with
Entertainment.
Relevance
Does the RP have its main focus on the match which the subject of it is
taking part in? Do the actions and words focus on the opponent and the
match for which the subject is preparing? Does the RP drift off-topic or
attempt to address too many outside factors at the expense of focusing on the
match/opponent of the week? These are some of the factors considered with
Relevance.
Each section is worth ten points for a total of 60 possible points. The person in the match with the highest point total from all the judges wins. If you lose a match, try and figure out which section you scored
low in and fix it. Complaining will only make us not book you for big matches.
7. Remember, we may have minors playing in ACW, so keep the sexual overtones to a minimum or warn of adult content at the header of your
role play. Also, ACW will censor your role play 'promos' so when your character curses please insert -Censored- or -Beep- instead of the word. Any person who does not will have points taken off their judging. This is not something that can be discussed. Your character may cuss up a storm, but that won't stop American Championship Wrestling from censoring it before it is aired.
8. Role play 'promos' which take place in the ring during an event are only allowed on days where the ACW holds
'house shows' and only during the time when the 'house shows' are airing. For example, if we have one house show this month, on
Friday the 16th between 6pm and 9pm Eastern Standard Time and you post an
in-ring role play on Friday the 16th at 10pm Eastern Standard Time, it will not be counted toward your RP total for the week and is a wasted RP...so be careful.
9. At no time will the rape or murder of another wrestler of ACW be allowed. Attack strats
(in-show scenes) may be sent in, and they may be seriously violent, but rape and murder are not allowed, period. If you do, appropriate action will be taken,
i.e. your wrestler being publicly fired and arrested on the next show.
10 Important: Every week after the weekly show goes off the air the new card will be posted with who you are facing for the week.
Week in and week out you should try and role play to the best of your ability because
'impromptu matches' will take place from time to time. These matches can be between anyone and even for titles.
These matches are not announced to the public. They are chosen by the
administrators the day the card goes out. The people involved in the matches role
play for their scheduled matches will be judged to determine who wins. So, if you
role play hard every week, you may win a title you weren't expecting to win, or lose one. Hard work is rewarded.
11. There is a limit of four (4) role plays for weekly shows and seven (7) for
pay-per-views. Their is no limit to strats, but at least one must be sent in by everyone for every show. it can be something as simple as your wrestler walking into the arena, but
it must be something.
12. 'Backsliding' will not be tolerated. "Backsliding is when you attempt to beat your opponent by posting all of your
role plays within the last three hours before the role play deadline (4pm
Central Standard Time on Saturdays). Only one role play may be posted within the last three hours
leading up to the deadline. If you're down three posts to 0 with three hours left, then your more then likely going to lose
four posts to one. Even an amazing role play cannot beat four decent ones.
